Amelia Kussner was the famed miniaturist of the Gilded Age. Her subjects included reigning social queen Mrs. Caroline Astor, Consuelo Vanderbilt, Edward VII of England, and Czar Nicholas II of Russia. In this presentation, historical researcher Kathleen Langone will “paint” the complex portrait of this fascinating woman, covering her artistic fame along with a few scandals. Her early years in Indiana will be discussed and then her adult life, when her star shined brightly over the Gilded Age.
